Lukas Spielberger is a Research Scientist at the University of Luxembourg, where he serves as Principal Investigator of the three-year (2025-2028) research project “Greening Europe’s Public Finances” funded by the Luxembourg Research Fund FNR. Lukas defended his PhD cum laude at Leiden University in 2023 and has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg (2022-2024) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (2024-2025).

Lukas conducts research in the fields of European and international political economy. His research interests include the political economy of international finance and central banking, the politics of public finance management in the European Union and European monetary and fiscal integration. His work has been published in the Journal of European Public Policy, West European Politics, the Journal of Common Market Studies and New Political Economy.
